Tai-Chi

Tai Chi, also spelled Taiji or Tai Chi Chuan, is a traditional Chinese martial art that has evolved into a popular and widely practiced form of exercise for health and well-being. It is often referred to as “meditation in motion.” Tai Chi combines deep breathing and slow, flowing movements, emphasizing the maintenance of proper body posture and alignment.

We start or finish with a heart coherence exercise/meditation. We do gentle warm-up exercises, 8 basic Tai Chi exercises, take a 5-minute break, and then finish with the introduction to the 24 movements. Students are encouraged to only do what they can and not to compare themselves to other students. We can say that Tai Chi is a moving meditation. The exercises help to unblock the flow of our vital energy (Chi), which can be hindered for various reasons and may therefore cause illnesses. This contributes to regulating our energy, promoting balance, and grounding us deeply, which is extremely helpful when facing life’s challenges. Therefore, Tai Chi has a calming effect for those who suffer from stress and anxiety. It is an exercise that is accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels.
